Where can i find a store that sells gothic lolita fashion in the U.S?
I want to buy some nice gothic lolita fashion but i cant seem to find any stores. I'd really appreciate it if you could help me. And yes i know you might sugest Hot topic but that store has been frutified soo yea.
There are only a few physical shops in the U.S that sells authentic lolita clothing:
Tokyo Rebel in New York City
Black Peace Now and Baby the Stars Shine Bright in San Francisco, CA
Dream Shoppe in Gardena (near L.A), California
Each should have a website which you can also shop online from.
You could always attend anime conventions as well, but keep in mind of the basics because often times, vendors selling lolita items, may not actually be lolita, but are costumes; this also applies to shopping online at places that aren't a lolita brand (such as etsy shops).
When you're in that situation and/or not buying from lolita brand lables, keep in mind of these questions:
- is the skirt around knee length and sits at the waistline (not hips!)
- is it (including lace) made of cotton
- is the lace (if any) soft
- does the skirt fit a petticoat underneath?
- for shirts: will it look frumpy if I try to tuck it under my skirt?
If the item you want doesn't fit any of these criteria, then chances are, it's not lolita.
